THE RECIPES

I think my favorite part of the Simply Earth subscription box is the recipes.

Since my kids are doing all of their schoolwork at home until August (at least), I just don’t have the time to go searching the internet for essential oil recipes.

Having 6 different recipe cards provided in my recipe box is a huge timesaver!  Especially when they are recipes that are made to keep my home clean and free from bacteria…

Given that we’re currently fighting a global health crisis, we could all benefit from a Home Detox, and my house is no exception.

So I set to work right away and created the recipes.  Then I spent the next few days cleaning some (pretty neglected) areas of my home.

GUNK REMOVER

My family is currently living in my late mother’s house, so we have a couple of furniture pieces from the early ’90s.

One of which is a set of wood bar stools.  My mom brought them home when I was about 16, and since then, they have been used by all 4 of my kids when they eat at our kitchen bar.

Needless to say, they are COVERED with stuck-on food gunk!

Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of different techniques to get the random pieces of food-gunk off of them, but nothing has ever worked.

So this Gunk Remover recipe from Simply Earth was the ultimate test… And it worked!

I poured a small amount of gunk remover on the arms of the bar stools and let it sit for a few minutes.  Then I used a warm washcloth to wipe the stuck-on food-gunk, and it came off right away!

If you have any number of kids in your home, you need to try this recipe ASAP!  

SHINE SPRAY

I used the shine spray to tackle the nastiness that is our sliding glass door.

We haven’t been able to see our reflection in the glass for quite some time because of all the doggy nose prints.

And the mud!  Our black lab climbs trees and rolls around in puddles in our backyard.  Then she comes and rubs her body against the glass door, begging to be let in.

Believe me when I say that this sliding door was disgusting!  I’m embarrassed to even put the before image on the internet. 😳

The first image was taken before, and the second one was taken after I used the Simply Earth shine spray. 😲

I sprayed the outside of the door with the Simply Earth shine spray, and all the dirt, mud, and doggy nose prints came right off.  I didn’t even have to put any muscle into it!

And I could hardly smell the vinegar, which is a plus in my house since my family doesn’t really like the scent.

GROUT SCRUB

Another area of my home that was in need of some TLC was the grout around the tiles in our bathtub.

I’ll be the first to admit that it was pretty bad…  

So I mixed the ingredients, per the directions on the recipe card, and then I applied the grout scrub.  And I was blown away!

Our bathroom is very small and has no windows, so it was super hard to get a good picture.

I had a hard time getting my camera to focus on a blank wall, but you can easily see where I applied the grout scrub and where I didn’t.  The grout on the left side of the image is clean and white, while the grout on the right side is still dirty.

BEESWAX FURNITURE POLISH

I had recently organized the drawers in my nightstand, but it still needed a good dusting and polishing.  This beeswax furniture polish was the perfect solution!

First, I took everything off the top of the nightstand and dusted everything.

Then, I liberally applied the beeswax furniture polish with a washcloth and buffed it into the surface.

It polished my nightstand nicely and it smelled wonderful!  There’s something refreshing about cleaning with essential oils compared to regular household cleaners.

WORK IT ROLL-ON

I was hesitant to believe that an essential oil roll-on could energize and uplift me enough to get some spring cleaning done.

But this roll-on truly had a major impact on my motivation!

After I finished trying Simply Earth’s April recipes, I proceeded to make a few extra all-natural cleaners.

If you’ve been around this blog before, you know that I usually have no motivation to clean whatsoever. 😕 But the Work It Roll-On energized me enough to get started.  And once you get started, it’s always easy to keep going!
