Hey there, I’m Nicole!
This blog is all about helping you declutter, get organized, and create routines so you can find more time for yourself and feel happy in your home.
Motherhood is hard AF, so I’ve made it my mission to help moms love their homes and prioritize time to themselves. I think the Hot Mess Mom Life is a sham, so I’m creating a society where it’s NORMAL to feel relaxed and peaceful in your home.
I know that’s easier said than done. 🤔 So if you are overwhelmed and unhappy with your home, you are in the right place!
I know how it feels when it seems like you’re just spinning your wheels, trying to manage your kids, your home, your job, on top of everything else in your life.
I myself was overwhelmed on a daily basis.
I’ve always been a pretty organized person, but all sense of organization went out the window after having 4 kids in 8 years.
We were living in chaos… My house was a disaster, my kids stayed up until midnight, and I went to the grocery store multiple times a week.
I felt unhappy, irritable, and defeated.
So I learned how to get organized as a mom. (Because being organized with little ones looks a hell of a lot different than it does when you’re single!)
But then my mom passed away.
Two months after that, my husband lost his job.
When he still hadn’t found a new job 3 months later, we made the decision to move into my late mother’s home so we could save money on rent.
It was a major downsize from our townhouse, plus, my late mother’s home was full of her things and my childhood things.
Once we got moved in, our house was literally bursting at the seams with stuff. The closets were overflowing, the garage was stacked to the ceiling, and we had to purchase plastic 3-drawer units just to store clothing because we didn’t have room elsewhere.
Again, I tried to get organized. But it didn’t work.
That’s when I realized that no amount of organization would fix the problem of too much stuff.
So I set out on a mission to declutter and get rid of half the stuff in our home.
I’m not a minimalist by any means! But having less stuff in my home has made it possible for me to get organized so I can truly enjoy my home and appreciate my life.
During my journey, I quickly realized that many other mommas are also sick of the chaos.
They’re ready to get off the struggle bus and get organized so they can find peace in their homes and find time for themselves.
But the advice out there isn’t always so cut and dry. 🤔 A lot of people confuse decluttering with organizing when they are two entirely separate situations.
Since I’ve had experience in both areas, I saw an opportunity to help women declutter and get organized.
And that’s why I created this blog!
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE MAXIMIZING MOMMA
Every two weeks, I publish a new blog post about organizing, decluttering, or home life.
My hope is that I can inspire you to take action in your home!
You see, EVERYTHING starts at home, so it truly is the most important facet of your life (especially now, during a pandemic).
So take a look around; you’ll find encouragement and practical advice that will help you turn your home into a place that works for you instead of against you.
If you find a particular blog post helpful, feel free to leave a comment at the very bottom of the page! Telling me what you do and don’t like will help me create better content for you in the future. 😉

A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME:
When I’m not blogging, I can be found lounging in the backyard with my four kiddos, watching Blue Bloods, Friends, and Mom reruns (on repeat), and keeping my cat separated from my Black Lab so they don’t paw each other’s eyes out.
👉 I work as a part-time bartender at a comedy club!
👉 I’m from Detroit, Michigan, but I currently live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
👉 I have a chronic health condition called Lymphedema that causes my legs to swell, so my legs can be pretty painful at times. This is where the “Maximizing” part of my name came from – because I had to learn how to maximize my time and get things done while I still have the physical capacity.
👉 I’m a total candy addict and can always be found with a package of Sweet & Sour Filled Twizzlers or Hershey’s Kisses in my purse.
👉 I LOVE Mountain Dew.
👉 Three things I can’t live without are my planner, my Instant Pot, and Classic Rock.
Here are a few pictures of my nappy-headed kids!
My husband and I both have naturally curly hair, so all of our children were blessed with curly, albeit somewhat nappy hair. 😂
