Looking for a gift wrap organizer? This solution is perfect for small houses!
If you live in a small house, you know what it’s like during the holidays when your dining room is taken over by wrapping paper, bows, and ribbons. With nowhere else to wrap Christmas presents, it can seem like you have no other choice but to leave the wrapping paper strewn all over the table. I’ve experienced this for the past 6 years, and it really drives me crazy! At night, when my kids are asleep, I have to move everything into my bedroom so I can wrap all their Santa presents behind closed doors, just in case they wake up. And then, I have to move everything back into my dining room before I go to sleep – all because our house is so small.
I knew there had to be a storage solution that would work, so I started looking at portable gift wrap organizers. I figured that was the best solution because it would allow me to easily move it around the house when needed. And that’s what I’m going to share with you today – a portable, organized wrapping station! If you’re tired of digging through old ribbon just to find the bow that you want for a special Christmas gift, keep reading!

the setup
First, I needed to find something portable, like a cart of some sort. So I started searching online and came across a 3-tier cart from Michael’s. I knew right away that it was the perfect solution.
But I also knew that I had A LOT of wrapping supplies. You see, I LOVE to wrap presents. It’s one of my very favorite parts of the holidays. In this post, I shared why gift wrapping is so memorable. So when you have a minute, go check it out!
Anyway, I had my heart set on a 3-tier cart, but I wanted to beef it up a little. And thankfully, there was already a beefed-up option that I could purchase!
So I ran out the door to Michael’s and purchased one of the deluxe carts right away! I was super excited to get started with my gift wrap organizer.

On the top shelf, I placed my extra large ribbon spools. And I used a Santa-looking basket to hold loose bows and pieces of ribbon.
The second shelf is reserved for gift toppers, like bells, greenery, and bows. And the third shelf stores gift bags, boxes, tissue paper, and sheets of gift tags.

Gift toppers are one of my favorite ways to make a present beautiful. So I needed to further organize my toppers to make them easy to access. I used a Christmas cookie tin to group the loose toppers together.
the ribbon
I probably have enough ribbon to wrap around our block twice, and then some. Which is why I knew this Deluxe Cart was the perfect option for me.
There is room for 13 pretty-good-sized spools of ribbon and they’re all available at my fingertips!
On the side of the cart, there’s a removable pegboard with individual pegs and a container. My cart has 3 types of tape, scissors, twine, and more ribbon. I also have a few loose gift tags and some pens.
But if you don’t want to use the pegboard, you can easily take it off!
the wrapping paper
And finally, my favorite part of this gift wrap organizer! On the opposite side of the ribbon spools is a little shelf that’s just-the-right size for wrapping paper. There is also a bar that can be placed at the top of the cart to keep the wrapping paper from toppling over. And the bar has individual hooks for extra storage.
I currently use my hooks to hold a few gift bags.
What I love about using this deluxe 3-tier cart as a gift wrap organizer is the fact that all of the pieces are movable. So if something doesn’t work for you, you can easily move things around until you find a good fit!
final thoughts
If you live in a small house and are wanting to organize your wrapping paper supplies, a portable cart is a perfect solution! The original 3-tier cart will contain all of your ribbon, bows, gift tags, tissues, and gift boxes. And the deluxe 3-tier cart will allow you to store wrapping paper, scissors, tape, and even more ribbon.
No matter which cart you choose, you can easily move your organized wrapping station into your bedroom when you’re wrapping up a storm after your kids have gone to bed.
