When it comes to getting organized, a big part of the process involves buying products. But there are so many organizing products out there that it can seem a little overwhelming.
So in honor of my 35th birthday, I’m doing a roundup of 35 organizing products that you’ll actually use.
In my opinion, these are some of the best organizing products around! Each product has an example of how you can use it in your own home.

#1 – Wall-Mounted Coat Hooks
First up, I’m sharing one of my most favorite organizing products – wall-mounted coat hooks!
I seriously use these all over my home, sometimes in unusual places.
I currently have upside-down wall-mounted coat hooks at the bottom of our master closet to store my rarely-used shoes. And we also have them in the kid’s rooms for storing all their little bags, purses, and dress-up clothes.
They’re budget-friendly, sturdy, and best of all, super easy for kids to use! I recommend these over simple command hooks any day because they give a more streamlined look and they will last until you take them down. 🤷♀️
#2 – Multi-Purpose Bins
These bins truly are multi-purpose! They can be used all over your house from the pantry and the freezer to the office and the bathroom.
And they’re super budget-friendly, which makes them great for organizing your home on a budget!
#3 – iDesign Acrylic Lazy Susan
Otherwise known as a turntable, they have definitely come a long way from that old lazy susan that your grandma had for her salt and pepper shakers.
There are many different versions, but this specific acrylic lazy susan is one of my favorites.
This is one of the best organizing products on this list. It works great in cabinets, closets, the fridge, and even for kids! A turntable is a great way to maximize space and make everything easily accessible!
#4 – Plastic Lazy Susan
Another lazy susan, but this one is from The Container Store.
This lazy susan is great for use in the bathroom because the sides are tall enough to keep your toiletries from toppling over.
#5 – Desktop Hanging File
If you struggle with paper clutter, a desktop hanging file will be a game-changer for your home. It’s more accessible than a filing cabinet, which makes it the perfect way to organize all the daily papers that you need access to throughout the week.
There are 2 different desktop hanging files that work great for organizing papers. The acrylic hanging file is perfect if you love that clean and simple look.
And the rose gold hanging file would be gorgeous in a home with more feminine decor.
#6 – Over-the-Door Shoe Organizers
Over-the-door shoe organizers are one of those versatile organizing products that can be used for almost anything!
Not just for shoes, you can use them for school supplies, makeup, toys, children’s clothes, diapers, charging cords… The list is endless!
This is the exact one that I use in our coat closet; it is super sturdy and has held up for the past 3 years without any rips.
#7 – Acrylic Drawer Organizers (with gold trim!)
One of the best ways to maintain an organized space is to make it pretty. And these acrylic drawer organizers from The Container Store will definitely make your space pretty!
You can use them in any drawer in your home but they work especially well in a bathroom drawer.
#8 – Cube Shelves
Cube shelves are another excellent product, especially for families!
These days, you can find them pretty much anywhere, but there are a few differences you should be aware of…
I have purchased a few of the Mainstays cube shelves from Walmart. And while they’re still standing, they’re definitely falling apart. They worked well for us when my kids were in the baby/toddler stage. But now that they’re older, we’re making the move to the higher quality Kallax shelf units from Ikea.
Threshold from Target is another quality option.
#9 – Drawer Dividers
Drawer dividers are another one of those game-changing organizing products!
Even if you’re “chronically disorganized”, drawer dividers can help you keep your dresser maintained. By creating space for different categories, it will be easy to put things back where they belong!
#10 – Plastic Shoe Boxes
Plastic shoe boxes are another one of my favorite organizing products! I love to use them for my kid’s toys because they keep small collections together.
But they can also be used to store smaller items like craft supplies, tools, project samples, etc.
#11 – 3-tier rolling Carts
A rolling cart is a fantastic organizing product because it can be used for so many different things! And 3-tier rolling carts work especially well if you’re short on space or are needing a temporary or mobile solution.
#12 – Ikea Kvissle Letter Tray
Because of COVID-19 and distance learning, a lot of parents are realizing what it’s like to homeschool their kids.
One trouble that we have run into is keeping all of our construction paper and notebook paper easily accessible, but this letter tray from Ikea has made it much easier!
#13 – Photo Boxes
Photo boxes were obviously made for storing photographs, but they can be used for so much more!
I currently have a few white photo boxes on the shelf next to my desk for planner stickers and other office supplies.
#14 – Desk Organizer
A desk organizer isn’t just for desks! You can keep one on your kitchen counter and use it as a mini command center.
You can find them at many different stores, but I especially like this one from Wayfair because there is plenty of room for all kinds of supplies!
They’re especially useful for organizing file folders, notebooks, writing utensils, crayons, or markers.
#15 – iDesign Clear Fridge Bins
If you tend to forget about the food in the back of your fridge, these fridge bins will be perfect for you!
By keeping everything in a bin, you can easily see everything that’s available each time you pull the bin out. They’re much easier to clean than the entire fridge, and they come in multiple different sizes!
#16 – Y-Weave Baskets
And another one of those versatile organizing products! These baskets from Target can be used all over your house.
They are good quality for only a couple of bucks each, so they work well if you’re trying to organize on a budget. At the time of writing, they currently have 7 different colors available so you can easily match them to your decor! And they come in multiple different sizes.
#17 – Ikea Skubb Boxes
These clothing boxes from Ikea are a great way to organize cluttered dresser drawers, especially for kids!
I use them in my younger kid’s dressers as a way to separate categories so they can easily find what they need.
#18 – Godmorgon Boxes
While there are other drawer organizers on this list, I wanted to include these Godmorgon boxes from Ikea because they work really well for tall or narrow drawers.
#19 – Tiered Organizers
Tiered organizers come in all shapes and sizes but I especially love this tiered organizer from iDesign because it’s small and subtle. It works great for storing commonly used spices and/or medicine in a kitchen cabinet.
#20 – Clear Weathertight File Boxes
If you want to make a memory box for your children’s artwork and school papers, weathertight file boxes are the product you need! But you don’t have to only use them for school papers; you can use these file boxes for any papers or files..
#21 – Ikea Trofast System
The Ikea Trofast System is a great way to organize kid’s toys. Especially if you’re looking to corral a specific type of toy, such as legos.
They come in all different sizes (and shapes) and you can switch out the storage boxes. And they’re just the right height for kids!
#22 – Shelf Risers
I love using shelf risers in our kitchen cabinets because they create space where there wasn’t any before!
They work especially well for kid’s plates and bowls, in pantries, and baking cabinets. If you’re short on space in your kitchen, shelf risers are an easy hack!
#23 – Closetmaid Broom and Mop Holder
There are literally hundreds of different broom holders out there.
But I have had the same one hanging on our garage wall for almost 20 years and it’s still in use today!
This is the broom holder that I use and recommend. It might not be as fancy as some of the others, but after 20 years of use, I can confidently say that it’s a great product! 😉
#24 – 16-Case Photo Storage Carrier
Raise your hand if you have thousands of photos tucked away in an old shoebox! 🙋♀️ The problem with shoeboxes and photo albums is that they are not safe from the elements in your garage, basement, or attic. Each of these inner cases is acid-free and they have a hinged lid!
If you have a lot of photographs, a photo storage container can help you keep your photos safe and organized.
#25 – Mini Accordion File
I keep one in my purse at all times for receipts, business cards, appointment cards, and even stickers for my kids. 😉
I also keep a few in my desk drawer for long-term receipts that I might need to save.
#26 – Ikea Kuggis Box
The Ikea Kuggis box is the ultimate storage container! They come in multiple sizes, they have lids and organizing inserts, and they’re stackable!
#27 – Magazine Files
Magazine files are an awesome way to store magazines and other types of paper clutter in your home. But they can also be used to store smaller items like paint and carpet samples, ribbon, bows, yarn, etc. With the spine facing out, they can easily disguise whatever you have inside of the magazine file!
#28 – Small Zipper Bags
If you have kids, then your house is probably overflowing with small items of all kinds! Toys, puzzle pieces, little trinkets, etc.
Small toys can quickly take over a room and make it impossible to organize, but small zipper bags will make your whole life a lot easier!
#29 – Multi-Compartment Baskets
These multi-compartment baskets from Target are one of my most favorite organizing products for families with young kids. We used this exact basket to organize all of our pacifiers when we had two kids under two.
I love the basket so much that I eventually went on to purchase the entire line.
#30 – Glass Jars
This 65oz glass jar from Ikea is perfect for storing dishwashing pods, dryer balls, change, receipts, etc. The lid is not airtight so I don’t recommend it for dry goods, but it works well as an organizational product in other places throughout your home.
And for $5.99, the price can’t be beaten!
#31 – Woven Baskets
I just love these woven baskets from Home Depot! For the longest time, we used one for a diaper caddy in our living room. And now they are being used in our kid’s rooms for storing different types of toys on their cube shelves.
Despite being terrorized by our crazy kids, they’ve held up for a few years! The nylon straps have never frayed or come undone.
#32 – Sterilite 3-Drawer Units
The Sterilite plastic 3-drawer units are hands down, the best. I’ve had quite a few of these over the years and they’re still standing strong today.
The larger ones are ideal for storing bulkier items. But the small countertop sizes are perfect for a range of things. We currently have one in our medicine cabinet for our kid’s liquid syringes and medicine droppers.
#33 OVER-THE-CABINET BASKET
What I love about this over-the-cabinet basket is that it holds a towel on the outside of the cabinet and miscellaneous supplies hidden on the inside. It’s sturdy and has held up for us for over a year.
Be sure to measure and check specifications before you order any organizing product!
If your cabinets do not have a clearing above the door, mounted baskets are a great alternative.
#34 – Water Hyacinth Baskets
Water Hyacinth baskets are one of those organizing products that will give a streamlined look to your home. They’re great in all areas, but especially a pantry or linen closet.
They come in many different sizes from x-small all the way up to large. And the best part is the price! You can’t find a better quality basket for this price anywhere.
#35 – THE CONTAINER STORE BIN CLIP LABELS
If you’re going to use baskets to organize your home, you’ll need labels to help you identify what belongs in each basket.
But labels don’t always stick on certain materials, which is why these bin clip labels are so perfect! Using either a chalk marker or a dry eraser marker, you can easily change the label. And they slide right on the side of the basket!
Here’s What to Do Next
Are you ready to get organized?!
Here are the action steps that you need to take for your next organizing project:
Plan your purpose for the space
Planning how you will use the space will help you in the long run because you’ll have a clear idea of what should stay and what needs to go.
Pull everything out and purge anything you no longer want
It’s crucial that you purge and declutter a space before you start organizing.
Put all like items together
Combining like items is what organization is all about! When you’re organizing an area of your home, you want to have similar items grouped together.
Place everything back where it belongs
Placing everything where you would like for it to go will help you know if the space will work for you and your family. You want to do this before you purchase products just in case you decide to move an item somewhere else. This step will save you time and money!
Measure the proportions
Once you’re happy with where the items are placed, the next step is to measure the area. This is a step that many people miss. But don’t skip it!
If you purchase organizing products on a whim without getting accurate measurements, you will run the risk of buying too many or too little. Measuring before you shop will save you time and money, and your organizing project will be more successful!
Purchase your products!
Once you have your measurements, it’s time to purchase your products!
Remember to shop your home first and foremost – before you purchase anything from a store. If you don’t have what you need, then go out and start purchasing!
The products in this post are some of my favorites; use them as a guide to help you determine what will work best in your home.
Good luck with your organizing projects! 😉
