PROJECT 333
Project 333 was developed by Courtney Carver at bemorewithless.com. She encourages people to wear only 33 articles of clothing for 3 months.
Regardless of the seasons or extreme weather changes, paring down your wardrobe (and your closet) is a great way to get rid of unnecessary clutter.
THE HANGER METHOD
Hang all of your clothing with the hangers facing in the opposite direction. When you wear an item and hang it back up, turn the hanger the right way.
At the end of the month, you’ll have a clear picture of the items you don’t wear and no longer need to keep.
THE BOX METHOD
The Box Method consists of setting up four individual boxes – trash, donate/sell, keep, or undecided.
Choose an area of your home (or a room) and go through each item individually. Every single item will end up in one of the four boxes.
SET A TIMER
Set a timer and give yourself 5 minutes to complete a mini decluttering session.
Five minutes might not seem like much, but if you make a point to practice decluttering for 5 minutes every day, eventually you’ll have conquered a whole room.
Get started today by clearing off your kitchen counters.
INVITE COMPANY OVER
Having company come over is an effective way to get rid of clutter. When you know you’re expecting guests, all of the tasks that you’ve been putting off suddenly become easy to handle.
So invite your boss over or plan a seasonal party for family and friends. Give yourself a reasonable amount of time and break up your tasks into manageable actions, room by room.
INVITE OVER A TODDLER
Having a toddler in your home gives you a unique point of view on areas of your home that otherwise would go unnoticed.
Of course, this method will only work if you don’t already have young children. And you will need to maintain close supervision if your house isn’t child-proofed.
GIVE AWAY ONE ITEM EACH DAY
Colleen of 365lessthings gives away one item every day of the year.
She has some incredible before and after pictures featured on her site that show the amazing transformation some of her readers have gone through just by getting rid of one item each day.
THE 30-DAY MINIMALISM GAME
The Minimalism Game is a challenge that has become pretty popular on social media.

On the first day, get rid of 1 item in your home that you no longer need or want. Two items on day 2, and so on.
It can be pretty difficult once you get further along, but finding someone to partner with makes it easier to keep going.
Once you’ve reached the end of the month, you will have decluttered 496 items from your home!
